Phillips, Emma (?)

The friends of Wm. Horton will no doubt be surprised to learn that he has been a married man for nearly six months.  The first intimation of the wedding was given Saturday, when Miss Emma Phillips of Warren came to spend a few days at the home of her uncle, J.A. Phillips, and family.  Sunday Mr. Horton came up and Miss Phillips then introduced him as her husband, which was the first intimation here that Mr. Horton had taken a wife unto himself.  For the past several months Will has been at Savanna, N.D., but just previous to going there he and Miss Phillips were united in marriage and have kept their secret from all their friends and relatives with the exception of the mother of the bride.  Mrs. Horton is a most estimable young lady of Warren.  She has held the position of cashier in a large store there for several years and is a pleasant and amiable young lady whose sunny disposition is quite evident.  Mr. Horton is a Clark county boy who is well known to most all of us.  He has resided in town Levis for many years and last summer went west to continue his business of carpenter and contractor and has done exceedingly well there.  His friends here will be highly pleased to know that he has been so fortunate in winning a bride and will extend their best wishes to him and his wife.
