Weigman, Richard #2 (1886 - 16 NOV 1956)
Richard Weigman, 70, a retired farmer living near Colby was found dead last Friday morning of a head wound believed to have been self-inflicted, according to John Bergemann, coroner of Clark Co., who investigated the case.
Weigman’s body was found at the rear of the sewage disposal plant. He was seated on the ground, learning against the building. The price tag was still on a new shotgun he had purchased a short time before. The coroner said Weigman apparently used a stick to discharge the gun. His hand still clutched the stick when the body was found.
Weigman’s wife said she knew of no motive for the act. She said her husband had suffered from a slight heart condition but seemed to be in good spirits.
Funeral services were held at two o’clock Sunday afternoon from the First Evangelical and Reformed Church in Colby with Rev. Victor Grosshuesch officiating. Burial took place in the Green Grove Cemetery.
