Hoeft, Louis #2 (12 APR 1888 - 23 DEC 1956)
Louis Hoeft, 68, was found dead in his home in Abbotsford Sunday of a gunshot wound which coroner John Bergemann, Neillsville, said apparently was self inflicted.
The body was discovered on a bed when a brother, Otto, and two friends called at the home. Nearby was a shotgun and two empty shell cases which led officials to believe a first attempt failed. Death is believed to have occurred early in the morning.
Hoeft, a single man, operated a farm northeast of Abbotsford, in Marathon County, in the town of Holton, where he was born April 12, 1888. He moved to Abbotsford over two years ago and lived alone. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Unity.
He is survived by two sisters, Mds. Frank (Anna) Schultz and Mrs. William (Ida) Kleima, and his brother, Otto, all of Abbotsford. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Hoeft was reported to have been ill for a long time.
Services were held at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon from the Zink Funeral Home. The Rev. F. H. Sprenger, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, officiated and burial was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.
