Pyatt, Darlene (22 DEC 1956)

Lyle Charles Martens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Martens, 317 Wausau Av., Wausau, claimed Miss Darlene Carol Pyatt as his bride in a Yuletide candlelight ceremony on Dec. 22, 1956 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Wausau.  The bride, who is Home Economics teacher at Edgar High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Pyatt, city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.).

The bridegroom will finish his studies at Stout State College, Menomonie, next June.  He is a member of the Delta Kappa Fraternity there.  His bride is a recent graduate of that college, where she was a member of the Hyperian Sorority.

The Rev. James Ullom, Rothschild, performed the 7 p.m. double ring ceremony.  Lester Wachholz, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Laura Maki, Edgar, sang "Because" and the Lord’s Prayer."

A lovely Christmas theme was carried out in the sanctuary and in the apparel of the bridal aides.

The bridesmaid and matron of honor wore Kelly green faille waltz length gowns in princess style, while the junior bridesmaid and flower girl were attired similarly in red faille.  All held white satin muffs adorned with poinsettias and holly.

Mrs. Elmer Baum, Minneapolis, was the matron of honor for her sister; the bridesmaid was Patricia Ryan, Durand, college friend of the bride; the junior bridesmaid was Kay Pyatt, younger sister of the bride, and the flower girl, Jean Baum of Minneapolis, a niece of the bride.

Their gowns were detailed with sweetheart necklines and they wore gauntlets and other accessories in the Kelly green and red of their gowns.

The bridal gown was of French Chantilly type lace over bridal satin in floor length.  The sculptured Victorian collar was trimmed with sequins to accent the Basque bodice and the sleeves tapered over the wrists.  Her lace skirt was caught up in an apron effect to reveal tier over tier of pleated tulle cascading to the floor at the back.  Her lace-edged fingertip veil of sheer illusion was caught to a seed pearl encrusted coronet crown and she carried a bouquet of pink camellias surround by white stephanotis.

Gordon Long and Edward Zillman, both of Wausau, were the best man and groomsman, respectively.  Ushering were Elmer Baum, Minneapolis, and Roger Winnie, Wausau.

Mrs. Pyatt was present in a dress of heavy beige shantung and white accessories.  Also wearing a corsage of red and white roses, the bridegroom’s mother chose a dress of gray lace over light pink, with pink accessories.

A reception followed at the Youth Center Dining Hall.  Pouring at a beautifully appointed table were Miss Barbara Allen and Miss Sandra Welker, Owen, friends of the bride.

Guests included the bride’s parents and relatives from Owen, Withee, Prescott, Antigo, Eau Claire, Birnamwood, Aniwa, and Menomonie, and Worth, Florida, and Minneapolis.
