Lawrence G. Lenzen, age 79, of Thorp, WI, formerly of Lorain, OH, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. 
 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp.  Rev. Keith Apfelbeck will officiate and burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. 
 

Lawrence Gerard Lenzen was born on April 30, 1931, in Lorain, OH, the son of Edward Earl and Florence Ellen (Burns) Lenzen.  He was raised and received his education in Lorain, OH, graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1950.  After high school, Larry enlisted in the U. S. Air Force on October 23, 1950.  While serving in the military, Larry was united in marriage to Rosemary Butchko on May 22, 1954 in Lorain, OH.  After his honorable discharge on October 22, 1954, he returned to Lorain, OH and began working as a pipe fitter for Local 120 out of Cleveland.  In 1974, they moved to a farm in Birchwood, WI and farmed until moving to another farm in Withee, WI in 1978.  In 1985 they moved back to Lorain, OH, and Larry continued working as a pipe fitter until retiring in 1993.  In the fall of 2004, he moved to Thorp, WI where he resided until his death. 
 

Larry had many interests, including golf and fishing, loved basketball, and was very active in sports in his younger years. 
 

He is survived by one daughter, Laura Lenzen of Thorp, WI; one son, Ray Lenzen of Chippewa Falls, WI; one granddaughter, Olivia Lenzen of Thorp, WI; three sisters: Denise McIntire of Thorp, WI. Noreene (Jack) Rosso of Lorain, OH, Carol (William) Findley of Lorain, OH; one brother-in-law, Adolph Majesky of Lorain, OH; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosemary, on February 5, 1996; one brother, Raymond Lenzen; and one sister, Lynette Majesky.
