Decker, Adeline C. (16 October 1924 – 26 January 2022)

Adeline C. (Stoiber) Decker, passed peacefully into eternal life at home on January 26, 2022, at the age of 97 surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hope Hospice of Medford.

She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a friend to all. Adeline was born October 16, 1924, in Dorchester to Frank and Anna (Gabriel) Stoiber. She attended St. Louis Catholic Grade School. She was a 1942 graduate of the Dorchester High School. After high school, she left for the big city to work as a waitress in Milwaukee. After a year of working, she came back home to marry Cyril P. Decker on October 16, 1944, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2001, after 57 years of marriage.

Cyril and Adeline farmed in the Town of Mayville on Cyril's family farm, where they raised their 10 children, 6 sons and 4 daughters. After the children were old enough to help on the farm, dad took a job in town, and mom and the kids took care of the day-to-day farming. She was a wonderful homemaker and was an exceptional cook and baker. Mom's kitchen was open every day for a noon meal or whenever someone walked in the door. Sometimes up to four generations were at the table for lunch, with always room for one more and a cookie on your way out. Family gatherings were very important to her. Sewing, quilting and embroidering were just a few of mom's many talents.

Adeline was a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. She was an active member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Rosary Altar Society. She lived and practiced her faith to the fullest, leading the rosary for many occasions and devoting daily prayer for her family and whoever she heard was in need of prayers.

Adeline is survived by her 9 children: sons Ron (Carol) Decker, Dan (Mary) Decker, Bill (Diane) Decker, Gary (Kim) Decker, Chuck (Dawn) Decker, daughters Pat (Ronnie) Gebert, Joanne (Cliff) Garczynski, Doreen (John) Johnson, Mary (David) Erl, and daughter-in-law Sandy Decker. She has 34 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents Frank and Anna Stoiber, her husband Cyril, her son Jim Decker, her grandson Shawn Decker and her grandson-in-law Kip Hoppe, and her brothers Alvin (Barbara) Stoiber and Clarence (Charlene) Stoiber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, with Reverend Michael Hayden officiating. She will be laid to rest in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery in Dorchester. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. A live stream will be available for those unable to attend on the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website.
Mom will be deeply missed. She created the foundation of our family, surrounding us in faith and supporting us with her loving care. She will always be in our hearts and memories. A special thank you to all of the wonderful caretakers at Hope Hospice.
