Leonard, Mrs. Frank (abt 1865 - 16? Apr 1913) 
 

Mrs. Frank Leonard, who lives just north of town, near the county line, was so badly burned early Wednesday by fire that she died about noon on the same day after suffering untold agony. 
 

Mrs. Leonard arose in the morning and dressed and was building the kitchen fire, using kerosene.  In some way or other her dress caught fire and burned so fast and in such a manner that she could not put it out.  She screamed and ran out of the house and against a hard breeze, which only accelerated the blaze and caused the burns to go still deeper.  She ran about four or five rods and then fell exhausted to the ground.  Her cries aroused her son, who ran out to her and tried his best to smother the flames with his hands, but to no avail.  He then ran back to the house and got a pail of water and finally managed to get the flames extinguished.  Dr. Moore of this place and Dr. Schwarze of Humbird were called and they did all within their power to relieve the suffering woman.  The examination showed that her whole body, with the exception of her feet and a small portion of her face was burned, and especially around the upper portion of her body.  All her clothes were burned to shreds. 
 

Mrs. Leonard was about 48 years old and leaves her husband and two sons and two daughters in her immediate family, besides a host of friends and neighbors.
