Burnett, Frank (Memorial - 12 Apr
1913)
To the Editor of the Times, Neillsville,
Wis.
I have just been informed of the death of
one of Neillsville’s best known men, Frank Burnett.
During our younger days, why "Daisy", as
everybody knew him, was my friend and everybody who knew him
respected him, for he was a boy with plenty of athletic ability,
and he did hard work which no other young man in Neillsville at
that
[middle of article missing]
. . . was during the Spanish-American war
that I came to know Frank best, and I wish to say right here that
every boy who went on that expedition from Neillsville to Porto
Rico, learned to like their First Sergeant, for Frank certainly
made an ideal First Sergeant and was always looking out for the
boys, and there was not a soldier among us who would not jump at
his calling, to assist him in any of his duties.
He was a natural leader among the men and
I am sure that no one will regret his untimely demise more than
I. To his family and to the community I wish to extend my
deepest sympathy.
