Gaile M. Grabara, 76, Greenwood, died on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, on Saturday, May 15, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate. Interment of cremains will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
 
Gaile Michael Hukari was born on Dec. 1, 1933, in Milwaukee, to Raymond and Ellen (nee Niemi) Hukari. She was raised and received her education in Milwaukee, graduating from high school in 1952. She worked for Carpenter Baking, Milwaukee, until her marriage to George Grabara on March 2, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. They lived in Greenwood where she was a homemaker and raised her children. She worked for a few years at Adult Development Service, Greenwood. In 1981, she enrolled at the UW-Marshfield/Wood County and received her associate degree in English in 1983.. She then helped her husband, George, at their bakery business in Greenwood, until its closing.
 
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had many interests, but especially loved her grandchildren, playing pool, traveling, playing cards, cooking and crocheting.
 
She will be dearly missed by her husband, George, Greenwood; her children, Mandy Murphy, Greenwood, Tony Grabara, Albuquerque, N.M., Max Grabara, Eau Claire, and Fred (Hannah) Grabara, Madison; her foster daughter, Joan (Terry) Barton, Bothell, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Sam and Molly Murphy, Brittany and Ashley Olson, Jacob and Hailey Grabara, Georgia Mae Grabara, and Garrett Barton; one brother, Chuck (Linda) Hukari, Anaheim, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Bob Kuehl, Coweta, Okla., and Jack Gesell, Milwaukee; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
 
Preceding her in death were her parents and three sisters, Maxine Gesell, Kitty Hawtrey and Doris Kuehl.
 
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that memorials be given to the American Cancer Society.
