Humke, Elmer #2 (26 JULY-17 MAY 2010)
Elmer E. Humke, 86, Greenwood, died on Monday, May 17, 2010, at
Marshfield Care Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May
22, from noon until the time of a memorial service at 2 p.m., at
Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood. The Rev. Mark Schwinn
will officiate. Burial will be in West Side Cemetery,
Greenwood.
Elmer Everett Humke was born on July 26, 1923, in Greenwood, to Art
and Laura (Noah) Humke. He attended Decker Elementary School and
Greenwood High School. He married Elvera Reineking-Fravert on Dec.
16, 1972, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood. She
preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 1995.
He was a lifetime member of Immanuel United Church of Christ,
Greenwood, and a member of the Men’s Chorus. He loved
hunting, woodworking, gardening, and making wine, horse pulling,
polka dancing and old-time music. For many years he farmed and
owned feed mills in Longwood and Curtiss, and was also an
auctioneer.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Debbie) Fravert, Schofield; two
daughters, Margaret (Juan) Geracaris, Greenwood, and Marilyn (Bob)
Zettler, Onalaska; five grandchildren, Juan (Danielle) Geracaris
Jr., Garrett and Claire Fravert, and Lynzi and David Zettler; a
brother, Eldore (Alice) Humke; two sisters, Loriena Lindner and
Bernelda Liebzert; a brother-in-law, Norman (Sophie) Reineking; a
sister-in-law, Dotty (Dale) Vollrath; nieces, nephews and
friends.
