Fitzl, Marian (01 AUG 1923 - 12 MAY 2010)
Marian R. Fitzl, 86, Loyal, died on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the
Marshfield Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:30
p.m., on Friday, May 14, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church,
Loyal. The Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil officiated. Burial will be in
St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greenwood, at a later date.
Marian Ruth Hirschman was born on Aug. 1, 1923, in Chicago, to John
and Mary (nee Burbridge) Hirschman. She was raised in Chicago where
she received her education and graduated from high school. After
completing her education, she entered the U.S. Navy on April 19,
1945, and served until her honorable discharge on April 20, 1946.
She married Carl A. Fitzl on Nov. 24, 1945, in Chicago. After her
discharge from the Navy, they lived in Chicago until moving to
Loyal in 1959, where they bought a farm. They farmed until his
death on Jan. 7, 1978. She then sold the farm and moved into Loyal.
She worked as a cook at the Loyal Steak House for a few years and
then retired. She moved to the Thomas Apartments in 2000, and
resided there until her death.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its
PCCW, the Loyal American Legion Auxiliary, and the Lone Pine
Homemakers since 1960.
She will be dearly missed by one sister-in-law, Nancy Hirschman,
Marseilles, Ill.; one brother-in-law, James Rogers, Pittstown,
N.J.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Carl; two
brothers, Jack Hirschman and George Hirschman; and two sisters,
Charlotte Rogers and Helen Fitzl.
