Bertz, Catherine (08 NOV 1858-09 JAN 1948
Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Bertz, 89, who died at her home
in the town of Rubicon, Dodge county on Friday afternoon, Jan. 9,
after several weeks illness, were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan.
12, from St. Matthews Catholic church in Neosho. The Rev. Fr. O.
Zinnen officiated, and interment was in St. Bartholomew’s
cemetery in the town of Rubicon.
Mrs. Bertz, nee Hoffman, was born at Greenfield, in Milwaukee
county, on Nov. 8, 1858. Her marriage to Philip Bertz in Ashippun
took place on Apr. 12, 1885. When Mrs. Bertz was seven years old
when her parents moved to the town of Rubicon, but later they moved
to the town of Ashippun. After her marriage, she moved back to
Rubicon with her husband, and in 1892 they moved to the farm there
which was her home until she died.
Mr. Bertz preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1937. Surviving are
three sisters, Mrs, Margaret Schmidt of Horicon, Mrs. Mary Thompson
of Hartford, and Mrs. Hannah Morse of Loyal.
Among those attending the funeral were these Loyal people; Mrs.
Mary Bertz, Rueben and John Bertz, Mr. and Mrs. James Bertz and Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Morse.
