Roads are in a bad condition

Willie Bart closed school in district No. 2 last Saturday.

According to the almanac spring began last Saturday.

Miss Campbell of Humbird is visiting relatives near this place.

The cheese factory at Ide’s corners is an assured face.

The singing school was laid up for a week or so until we get better roads.

Chairman C.H. Ide was a business caller at Marshfield a day or so last week.

That frog that we heard singing so merrily the other day froze up Friday night.
 
Lee Smith came home from Menomonie last Monday where he had been holding meetings.

Mrs. Guy Smith of Price county visited her parents and other relatives here the past week.

Walter Graves and Walter Dean attended the farmers’ institute at Marshfield last week.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Walls March 11, a girl. This is No. 1 and grandpa Turner is tickled all over.

Mrs. Frank Baker was in our midst a few days last week. She was quite sick with the grip during her stay here.

A. Benedict has resigned his position as janitor of the M.E. church and Jerry Davis has been appointed in his place.

A son was born to J.P. Lastofka and wife the 7 inst [sic]. We are a little late with this item, but better late than never.

Ethel Smith came home from Menomonie last Wednesday, where she had been to assist her brother with some religious meetings.

Alvin and Horace Vandeberg have purchased an incubator, and will try their luck raising chickens. We hope they will meet with success.

Owing to the awful condition of the roads, some of our citizens go over to Granton ad take the train to Neillsville in preference to driving down through the mud.

Richard Free left last Monday for Alberta province, Canada. He expects to be gone a year and if the country, climate, etc., proves satisfactory to him out there, he will on his return home dispose of his farm here and go out there to live.
