Erickson, Melvin (1 MAY 1883 - 22 MAY 1957)
Friends and relatives were deeply shocked upon learning of the death of a beloved citizen, Melvin Erickson. Melvin took suddenly ill while at his home visiting with friends Tuesday night. After a brief examination by Dr. H. M. Braswell he was removed to St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield where he passed away early Wednesday morning.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at nine o’clock at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father H. L. Crubel officiating. A general rosary will be prayed this evening beginning at eight o’clock at the Griebenow Funeral Home. Interment will be made at the Catholic Cemetery at Greenwood and the pallbearers are John Zawadski, Albert Podgodzinski, Tony Jensen, Viggo Hansen, R. W. Wilkens and John Zasoba.
Mr. Erickson was born May 1, 1883 at Crete, Wis. In 1913 he married Amy Sorenson of Longwood to which union one child, Emery, was born. She passed away in 1918 during the flu epidemic. Mr. Erickson remarried on June 30, 1922 to Estelle Masters of Greenwood.
Survivors are his wife, one son and a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Elizabeth) Gruzynski of South Bend, Ind., and three grandchildren.
