Dougherty, Violet Mary (29 February 1924 - 25 May 2010) 
 

Violet Mary Dougherty, 86, of Neillsville, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation in Neillsville. 
 

Violet was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Portage.  She married Harland Dougherty.  Harland preceded her in death in 1981.    
 

Violet had a strong faith in God and a deep compassion for animals.  She enjoyed crocheting and made several baby blankets for her grandchildren. 
 

Violet is survived by her sons, Harland (Elizabeth) Dougherty, of Milwaukee, Billie (Mary Ann) Dougherty of Neillsville, Harry (Elizabeth) Dougherty of Merrillan and Kara (Gloria) Dougherty of Merrillan; two brothers, Duane and Roy Katchinske; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. 
 

In addition to her husband Harland, she was preceded in death by one son, Francis; one grandson, Dillon; one sister; and two brothers. 
 

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Reaching Out Ministries, USH 53, Whitehall, with Rev. Allen Skroch officiating.  Burial of Violet’s ashes was held at Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls. 
 

Friends called at the church one hour prior to services. 
 

Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home in Hixton assisted the family.
