Welker, Charles S. (3 JAN 1868 - 12 JUN 1957)
Charles S. Welker passed away at the Stanley Hospital on Wednesday, June 12, 1957, at the age of 89 years, 6 months. He was born in Ohio on Jan. 3, 1868. He moved to Lowden, Iowa in 1885. In 1886 he married Emily Swarm. They moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1920 and resided on a farm southeast of the city until 1950, when they retired to live in Stanley.
He is survived by his wife of Stanley, one daughter, Mable (Mrs. Henry Meyer) of Stanley, and two sons, Verne Welker and Orville Welker of Owen; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Fay (Mrs. Meyer) in 1944, and a son, Dewey, in 1954.
Services were conducted Saturday, June 15 at 2 o’clock at the Hoeper & Kraut Funeral Home by Rev. Clayton Nielsen. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Julius Johnson, Howard Devine, Hilmer Gustafson, Ebner Gustafson, Herbert Thess and Lester Kallberg.
Flowers were carried by Mrs. Ebner Gustafson, Mrs. Hilmer Gustafson and Patricia Gustafson. Singers were Mrs. Duane Bulgrin and Mrs. Esther Thompson, with Mrs. Toivo Kallio at the organ.
