Elftmann, Thomas L. #2 (20 MAY 1933 - 25 JUN 1955)
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 30, at the Congregational Church in Owen for Thomas Lee Elftmann, 24, nephew of Mrs. Anna Tonn, Curtiss, and the son of Mrs. Hattie Elftmann, nee Schultz of Milwaukee, a former area resident.
The young man died June 25, 1957 at the Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee, where he was admitted four days earlier. He was born in Minneapolis, May 20, 1933, and in 1942 moved with his family to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., where he graduated from high school in 1950. He enrolled at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., and had almost completed one year when his health failed. In 1952 he and his mother moved to Milwaukee where they made their home with her sisters. Burial was made on the Schultz family lot in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.). Officiating at the rites was Rev. Ralph Claybaugh.
Mrs. Alfred Thompson and Mrs. Du Wayne Bulgrin, accompanied by Mrs. Tovio Kallio sang "In the Garden" and "Just As I Am." Pallbearers were cousins, Arthur Meschefske, Clarence Schultz, Albert Schultz, Niron Vircks, Herbert Kuegler and Kenneth Vircks. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Tonn, Clifford Vircks, Alby Schultz, and David Schultz. Carrying flowers were John Schultz, Jame Tonn, Carmen and Sharon Kuegler, Diane Schultz, Leroy Schultz, Amy Sue Tonn and Nancy Meschefske.
Relatives who came from out of town for the funeral were Misses Bertha and Gertrude Schutlz, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schultz, Kenneth Vircks, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schultz and son John, Brookings, S.D., Mrs. Amanda Vircks and son, Niron, Peshtigo, Clifford Vircks, Oconto, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tonn and family, Escana, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Meschefske, John Meschefske, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meschefske, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Storch, Mr. and Mrs. John Meschefske, Jr., Stetsonville, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kuegler and family, Mrs. Bertha Kuegler, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schultz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schultz and family, Paul Schultz, Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. William Schultz, Owen, Miss Martha Schultz, Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyers, Marshfield, and Mrs. Anne Tonn, Curtiss.
