Montgomery, Lydia A. (11 May 1919 - 1 June 2010)

Lydia A. Montgomery, 91, of Granton went home to the arms of Jesus Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Abbotsford, surrounded by her family.

Lydia was born in Granton May 11, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Martha (Schaller) Schlinsog.

Lydia graduated from Granton High School in 1938 and then worked at the drug store in Neillsville until she married her husband of 53 years.  She was a pioneer woman throughout her life as she endured the absence of her husband, Allen, during his three-year service in WWII, using her hands to sew, crochet, cook and love, her most precious priority, her family.

Lydia is survived by her children, Reverend Allen (Bea) Montgomery Jr. of Rhinelander, Colleen (Jerry) Michaelis of Escondido, CA, Connie (Ray) Mullins of Marshfield, Gayle (T. J.) Urban of Neillsville, and Brett (Kerri) Montgomery of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, parents and a brother, Paul Schlinsog, preceded her in death.

A time of sharing and gathering will be held at a Memorial Service for Lydia July 9, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod in Granton, with the Reverend Stewart Marshall officiating.  Lydia donated her body to science, so the interment will be at a later date at the Zion Cemetery in Granton.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Lydia’s family with funeral arrangements.

Lydia’s family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Angelus and Golden Living Center in Marshfield for their tender and loving care and especially, God’s blessings, to Dr. Paul Writz and the entire staff at Golden Living Center in Abbotsford, for their precious, unending love for Lydia in the final months and these last days of her life.
