Gates, Lucille "Lucy" Marie (19 September 1936 - 6
June 2010)
Lucille "Lucy" M. Gates, 73, of Black River Falls
died Sunday, June 6, 2010, in her home.
Lucille Marie Tresemer was born Sept. 19, 1936, in
Clark County to Emil and Hattie (Reetz) Tresemer. She
attended Neillsville schools and graduated from Neillsville High
School.
She married John F. Gates Sept. 27, 1958, in
Neillsville. The couple lived in Neillsville and Humbird
before settling in Black River Falls where they resided for most of
their married lives.
Lucy held many jobs in the downtown Black River
Falls area. She was first employed as a clerk at the Schultz
Brothers Variety Store for 19 years, and then by the Sears Catalog
Store and finally by Jubilee Foods, all of Black River
Falls.
She was a member of the Black River Falls United
Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her two
grandchildren, collecting owls, attending family outings and
working crossword puzzles.
Lucy was very devoted to her husband, John, and
visited him daily at Family Heritage Care Center, Black River
Falls, for the past three years.
Survivors include her husband, John Gates of Black
River Falls; a daughter, Debra Gates of Menomonie; a son, Todd (Lyn) Gates of Black River Falls; two grandchildren, Stacy Gates of
Fulton, IL, and Matthew Gates of Black River Falls; three sisters,
Evelyn Brown of Sedgwick, KS, and Dorothy Staffon and Carol (Gerald) Opelt both of Neillsville; two brothers, Ed (Nancy)
Tresemer of Neillsville and Rolland Tresemer of Springfield, MO; a
special family friend, Lori Debee; many nieces and nephews, and
other relatives and friends.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and
two sisters, Gertrude ‘Gertie’ and
Susie.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday,
June 11, 2010, at the United Methodist Church and burial will be in
Riverside Cemetery, both in Black River Falls. Pastor
Kathleen Jury will officiate.
Friends and family members are invited for
visitation from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at the
church.
The Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls is
assisting the family with arrangements.
