Burr, Lilah A. (8 May 1923 - 3 June
2010)
Lilah A. Burr, 87, of Marshfield died Thursday
morning, June 3, 2010, at the Marshfield Care Center. She was
under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice
Services.
Lilah was born May 8, 1923, in rural Neillsville to
William and Sarah (Peddler) Seelow. She attended Happy Hollow Grade
school and graduated form Neillsville High School in 1941.
She was married to Leroy Markham Nov. 1, 1941. They moved to
Milwaukee where they both worked until 1948 when they returned to
Neillsville. They farmed south of Neillsville and later owned
and operated Chili Corners Bar. They moved to Marshfield, and Lilah
was employed a Karaus Supermarket. Roy died March 11,
1970. After his death, Lilah was employed at the Marshfield
Clinic.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Burr April
28, 1973. They owned and operated The Corner Bar and
Restaurant in Loyal from 1974 until 1978. They returned to
Marshfield where she was employed at the UW-Marshfield Campus and
later at St. Joseph’s Hospital, retiring in 1993, She also
managed the Parkwood Apartments.
She is survived by her husband Ken; stepchildren,
Bridget (Rich) Reil of Neillsville, Rosemary Kuraz of Neillsville,
Timothy (Tammy) Burr of Wisconsin Rapids and Nicki (Mark)
Sydorowicz of Neillsville; 14 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. She is further survived by five sisters, June (Leon) Schnabel, Berdella (Herman) Carl, Cleone Zink, Janet (Richard) Harrington, all of Neillsville, and Beverly (Terry)
Snyder of Gainsville, GA; two brothers, Frederick (Ardes) Seelow
and William (Karen) Seelow, both of Neillsville, and by special
friends Val Chronquist and Delores Draeger.
Lilah was preceded in death by her parents; a
sister, Donna Marie Seelow and two brothers, Kenneth and Russell
Seelow.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday,
June 8, 2010, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Pastor
Timothy Miller and Pastor Patti Steevens from St. Paul’s
United Church of Christ officiating. Visitation was from 4
p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Rembs Funeral Home and
again Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial was in Brooklawn Memory Garden Cemetery in the Town of
Richfield, with her nephews serving as
pallbearers.
