Bell, Hedy Elizabeth (2 April 1916 - 2 June
2010)
Hedy E. Bell, 94, of Neillsville passed away
Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at home.
Hedy Elizabeth Poziombka was born April 2, 1916, in
the Township of Pine Valley, daughter of August and Frances (Kaminski) Poziombka. She attended Happy Hollow School. After
finishing school, she met and married Patrick Brennan, and they
moved to California during WWII. They were later divorced.
She worked at a drug store for 33 years. She later married
Howard Bell, and this marriage ended in divorce.
She loved gardening in her flower garden and was
very active in various garden clubs on the West Coast. Hedy
even credentialed to judge in flower shows on the West Coast,
driving some hundreds of miles by herself. She bought a few acres
of land in the Mojave Desert during the late 1960s and turned it
into an unbelievably lush garden in the 28-odd years she lived
there, which was a major achievement. She also volunteered at
nursing homes and polling sites during elections. Hedy always
grabbed life by the horns and lived according to her
terms.
Hedy is survived by her grandson, Michael Brennan,
of California and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Fredrick
Brennan; brothers, Joseph, Victor, John and Alex; and sisters,
Gertrude, Josephine, Clara, Lillian, Saraphine, Katherine and
Rose.
Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s
Catholic Cemetery, Neillsville.
