Gisvold, Mary E. #2 (10 AUG 1957)

Friends and relatives gathered at the Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls last Saturday to witness the marriage of Miss Mary Elizabeth Gisvold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gisvold, Chippewa Falls, to Frank Nikolay, son of Mrs. Anna Nikolay, Abbotsford.

The bride chose a gown of silk organza when she said her vows before the Rev. Louis Dietrich.  Alencon lace over a taffeta designed the ballerina length skirt billowing over a long torso bodice.  The scooped neckline of the bodice complimented the short sleeves and organza gauntlets of her attire.  An illusion veil of pue silk was attached to her English hat, and she carried a bouquet of white roses and ivy.

The bride was attended by Miss Ruth Janick of Chippewa Falls, the maid of honor.  Lime green cotton and silk styled her princess line gown topped by a large white hat with lime green ribbon streamers.  Her bouquet was an arrangement of white roses entwined with ivy.

Escorting Miss Janick was the groom’s brother, Melvin Nikolay, the best man.  Ushering duties were performed by John Duffy, green Bay, and Frank Hickey, Chicago.

Ice blue Dacron designed the dress chosen by the mother of the bride for her daughter’s wedding.  It was accented with blue accessories.  The mother of the groom wore pink lace over taffeta with white accessories.  Red roses comprised their corsages.

Breakfast was served at noon at the Hotel Northern followed by a reception at the same place.  The couple greeted 150 guests from Seattle, Wash., Pensacola, Fla., Chicago, Ill., Minneapolis, Minn.; Manitowoc, Rice Lake, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Eau Claire, Wausau, Stanley, Abbotsford, Cornell, and Vesper.  Duties at the reception were handled by Saxi Bennie, a cousin of the bride from Seattle, who took care of the guest book, and Mrs. John Maxwell Moore, Pensacola, Mrs. James Nolan, Rochester, Minn., Miss Jean Mary Reihter, Eau Claire, Mrs. Dennie Helixon, Franklin Park, Ill., Miss Anne Nikolay, Milwaukee, and Mrs. August Helgerson, Chippewa Falls, who poured.

The couple, both graduates of the University of Wisconsin, will make their new home at Abbotsford, where the groom is affiliated with the Nikolay, Jensen, Scott law firm.  The bride is a former teacher in the Wausau High School.
