Auberg, Mildred (31 AUG 1957)

In the Holy Rosary Church of Owen, Saturday, Aug. 31, 1957, Miss Mildred Elaine Auberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Auberg, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and Ronald John Gehrke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Gehrke, Longwood (Clark Co.), were wed by the Rev. Hubert Crubel.

The bride was attired in a floor length gown of Chantilly lace, and nylon tulle over satin.  The molded bodice was cut to a small V at the neckline forming a mandarin collar embroidered with iridescent sequins.  The bouffant skirt was of tiered nylon tulle and had a lace panel at the front and one in back that extended into a train.  Cascading to her fingertips was a veil of French illusion secured to a crown of sequins and pearls.  White stephanotis surrounded the white orchid which centered her bouquet.

Maid of honor, Miss Joanne Auberg, sister of the bride, and Kathy Mikolainis, Thorp, and Karen Clark, Owen, donned floor length dresses of orchid taffeta covered with braided horsebraid.  The gowns had scoop neckline and were fastened at the waistlines with wide cummerbunds with large bows.  Their headpieces were heart shaped nylon net picture hats with bows in the back and dotted with sequins.  Purple orchids and white carnations comprised their bouquets.

The flower girl, Sharon Kay Auberg, the bride’s sister.  Her dainty white gown of nylon net and velvet brocaded nylon was caught at two places around the hemline with knots of flowers.  A small knot of flowers also secured the small cummerbund which encircled her waist, accenting the cowl neckline and cap sleeves of the bodice.  Her headpiece was a headband of nylon horsebraid.  She carried a bouquet identical to the bride’s.

Escorting the attendants were Ronald Auberg, cousin of the bride, as best man, and Ted Devine, Withee, Jim Roberson, Owen, and Tom Gehrke, the groom’s brother, as groomsmen.  A cousin of the bride, Lanny Auberg, was ring bearer, and John Gehrke, brother of the groom, and George Brunner, cousin of the bride, Chippewa Falls, ushered.

A turquoise print dress with black and white accessories was donned by the mother of the bride, along with a corsage of yellow and white carnations.  The groom’s mother wore an aqua dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink and white carnations.

Dinner followed the ceremony for the immediate relatives at the American Legion Hall, where the couple greeted guests from Chicago Ill., Waterloo, Iowa, Stanley, Thorp, Chippewa Falls, Westboro, Crandon, Unity and Curtiss.

The couple recently returned from a honeymoon trip through southern Wisconsin and have now established a residence in Withee.  The groom is employed as a cheesemaker at the Longwood Cheese Factory.
