Jahr, Bernard (30 Aug 1849 - 15 Jun 1913)
Bernard Jahr passed away last Sunday noon at the home of his son, Oscar, in the town of York. He has been in comparatively good health but was taken with an attack of heart trouble and died quite suddenly. Mr. Jahr was born in Saxony, Germany on Aug. 30, 1849. He came to this country in 1851 with his parents, who settled in Washington County, Wis. In 1873 he came to Clark County and settled on a farm in the town of Grant. Two years later he took unto himself a helpmate being united in marriage to Augusta Drescher on Oct. 30, 1875. To this union eight children were born, Oscar and Frank of the town of York, Mrs. Charles Staerwald of Loyal, Wesley of Waupaca, Edwin, Albert and Clara of Neillsville. One child died in infancy. He is survived by his wife and seven children.
During his long residence in this county Mr. Jahr established a reputation for industry and thrift. He was conscientious and painstaking in his associations with his fellow man and was held in high esteem by all his friends and neighbors. For some months his health has been poor, but he bore his illness with the sturdiness which had characterized him through life. The funeral was held at Granton Tuesday afternoon where the remains were laid to rest.
