Peterson, Ralph C. (March 21, 1921 - June 5, 2010)

 

Ralph C. Peterson, 89, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at his home in Owen.  


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss.

 

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Owen, and one hour prior to the service at the church.


Ralph C. Peterson, 89, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at his home in Owen. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss. Ralph was born March 21, 1921 to Edwin and Anna (Thompson) Peterson of Curtiss. Ralph graduated from Owen High School in 1939. He attended UW River Falls, before enlisting in the Army. After serving his country, Ralph returned to the family farm which he owned and operated until 1980.

 

Ralph married his high school sweetheart, Gwendolyn Herrick, on June 10, 1944.

 

Ralph served on the County Board for eight years, Owen-Withee School Board for many years, was president of the Curtiss Community Club, 32 degree Mason, and a 4-H leader for 27 years. He was a lifetime member and past President of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and President of St. Paul’s Cemetery Association. He was also a Commander of the American Legion Post 123 in Owen for many years and a member of the Curtiss Lions.

 

Ralph enjoyed hunting and watching sports, especially when his children and grandchildren were playing. 

 

Ralph is survived by his wife; three sons, Tom (Linda) Peterson of Owen, Dick Peterson of Owen, Jim (Deb) Peterson of Chippewa Falls, Carol (Tim) Devine of Owen, and Nancy (Dan) McAleese of Addison, IL; 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and his brother Art Peterson of Madison.

 

Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Gary and parents.
