Podevels, Harold H. (February 18, 1923 - May 26, 2010)
Harold H. Podevels, 87, Colby, entered eternal life Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Colonial Center Nursing Home, Colby.
Mr. Podevels was born February 18, 1923 on the family farm in the
town of Frankfurt.
He was the son of Albert and Ida (Schorer) Podevels. Harold graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1941. He served in the US Army during WWII.
On May 31, 1947 at Peace Lutheran Church, Harold was united in
marriage to the former Frieda Giese.
Mr. Podevels was an electrician, furnace technician and plumber.
Harold was one of the state’s few remaining blacksmiths and
spent countless hours puttering and fixing things in his shop. He
owned and operated Podevels Heating Service in the town of Cherokee
for many years. He later worked at Wick’s Building Systems,
where he also served as union president for several
years.
Harold had many interests. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He
also enjoyed traveling and taking his family on camping trips. He
cherished time spent with family, playing cards and board games.
Harold also loved animals, especially birds and
chipmunks.
Mr. Podevels was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 63 years, Frieda Podevels,
Medford; children, Dean Podevels, Reedsburg, Barb Robinson,
Concord, NH, Karla Podevels, Medford, and Cary Podevels,
Stetsonville; three grandchildren, Eric Podevels, Angela Podevels
and Andrew C. (Dr. Elizabeth Breuer) Podevels; and two brothers,
Melvin (Marge) Podevels, Milwaukee, and Albert Jr. (Ev) Podevels,
Abbotsford, further survive Harold.
One infant grand daughter, Ella Katherine preceded Harold in
death.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m.. Tuesday, June 1, 2010
at the Peace Lutheran Church in the town of Frankfurt. The Rev Pat
Pierce will preside. Leone Pierce will provide music for
congregational hymns. Burial will be in the Peace Lutheran
Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at
the church on Tuesday.
The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with
arrangements.
