Pastor, Mary Jane (31 AUG 1920 - 16 JUN 2010)

WESTON -- Mary Jane Pastor passed away at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital in Weston on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, due to complications of congestive heart failure.

Mary Jane Peck was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Chicago. She was one of nine brothers and sisters, who preceded her in death.

In September 1938, Mary became Mrs. Joseph Pastor. They raised two children: Joseph and Nancy. Mary and Joe farmed in rural Greenwood for many years. She also operated Pastor's Antique Shop there, and continued the shop when they retired to the city of Greenwood and later to their rural Loyal hobby farm before finally retiring to Greenwood again. In 2005, Mary moved to the Dancy area, near Mosinee, to be closer to family.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe, in 1996, and by her beloved son, Joe, in 2001. In 2009, Mary's son-in-law, Bud, passed away. He was Mary's chauffeur and confidant. They shared many times reminiscing of the good old days. Bud lovingly referred to Mary as "Granny." Their relationship was very special.

Mary enjoyed life to the fullest and everyone enjoyed her company. She made, and kept, many friends of all ages. Mom will be remembered for the many lives she touched in her 89 years of life. Mary was an avid reader and crossword puzzles were a challenge that she loved.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Nancy Hindman; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Channing; three grandchildren: Lori (Harvey) Olson, Julie (Wayne) Petersen, and Joseph Hindman. She is further survived by three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Mary's nephew Tom Campbell was a large part of her life and like a second son.

Rest in peace, Mom. You gave so many much happiness. Until we meet again, you will forever be in our hearts. Our love for you will never cease. Life will be difficult without you.

Mary's family would like to thank the entire third floor staff at Saint Clare's Hospital for their consideration, kindness and compassion during her hospitalization. May God bless each and every one of you!

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 20, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood.
