Scheel, Herman R. #2 (21 MAR 1911 - 2 NOV 1957)

 

Herman Richard Scheel was born in Unity on March 21, 1911.  He attended school in Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.).  He was united in marriage to Dorothy Hingiss on June 26, 1935, at the Congregational Church in Owen.  He was a cheesemaker near Stanley until 1940.  Since then he had been a supervisor at the Naval Ordnance Plant at Forest Park, Ill.  He was a member of the F. & A.M. Lodge No. 1054 of Forest Park, Ill.

 

Herman Scheel passed away at Forest Park, Ill., at 4:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, 1957, after an illness of three years.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Scheel, a daughter, Beverly Jean (Mrs. David) Johnson of Forest Park, Ill.; his father, William Scheel of Ohio, and brothers Frank of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Roland of Orangeville, Ohio, Lawrence of Zion, Ill., Ralph of Colby, Henry of Owen, and sisters, Lulu (Mrs. Louis) Hardrath of Owen, Henrietta (Mrs. J.)  Van Dreel of Wis. Rapids, Sophia (Mrs. William) Schulhauser of Marshfield, Minnie (Mrs. Ray) Lapp of Medford, and numerous nephews and nieces.  A brother, Louis, preceded him in death in 1952, and his mother in 1939.

 

Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Congregational Church with Rev. Ralph Claybaugh officiating.

 

Mrs. Don Marshall was the soloist with Mrs. Maxine Christopherson playing the organ.  Pallbearers were Larry Scheel Jr., Harley Hardrath, Roscoe Alexander, Addie Hardrath, Gordon Alexander and Dale Mathias.  Flowers were carried by Mrs. Inez Alexander, Mrs. Eileen Hardrath, Mrs. Ethel Hardrath, Miss Karen Alexander, and Misses Sally Kaynetta and Susan Hardrath.  Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery.
