Stevenson, John (9 JAN 1870 - 9 NOV 1957)
John Stevenson was born in Denmark, Jan. 9, 1870, and came to this country when 20 years of age and worked in various places in the west, spending some time in Omaha. From there he went to Chicago where he met and married Wilhelmine Hansen in 1898. In the spring of 1906 they moved to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) and build a home just south of the village. In 1917 Mr. Stevenson built the Withee Garage and later the home across the way. In 1930 his wife passed away and a nice, Dorothy Zasoba, has since cared for him. He passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1957, at the Havenet Nursing Home in Owen, submitting to a long lingering illness.
He is survived by a niece, Dorothy Zasoba, and a nephew, Victor Nielsen, both of Withee.
Funeral services were held at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, of which John Stevenson was a member, at two o’clock, Saturday the 23rd of November. The Rev. Clayton Nielsen, pastor of the parish, officiated, with burial being made in the family lot in the Nazareth Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were John Potocnik, Edgar Albert, Emil A. Hansen, Roland Haire, Carl Jensen and Martin Paulsen.
