Mathews, Betty Lou (29 May 1948)

At a nuptial mass celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Aloys Zinthefer at St. Anthony’s Catholic church here at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29, Miss Betty Lou Mathews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Mathews and Leonard J. Rueth, son of Mr. and Mrs., Frank Rueth, exchanged marriage vows.

The groom’s niece, Miss Helen Langfeldt, was maid of honor, and his nephew, Raymond Miller, served as best man. Other members of the wedding party were Mrs. Robert Lulloff, the bride’s sister, and Miss Doris Bauer, bridesmaids. Vincent Braun and Robert Lulloff, groomsmen, Jeanette Elsinger, neice of the groom, flower girl, and Lawrence Rueth, his nephew, ring-bearer. John Elsinger Jr. and Franklin Rueth ushered.

The bride wore a gown of white satin and a full length veil trimmed with lace, which was caught to a headdress of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of Joanna Hill roses, Easter lilies and lilies of the valley.

The maid of honor was in yellow ninon and carried a cascade bouquet of matching roses. The bridesmaids were dresses in blue, and their flowers were pink roses. The white dotted Swiss dress worn by the flower girl was trimmed with tiny pink bows. She carried a nosegay bouquet of carnations and roses.

Breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents. A reception and dinner were held at the home of the groom’s sister, Mrs. Rosalind Miller.

After a honeymoon in southern Wisconsin, the couple will reside in Loyal.

Out of town guests at the wedding were Mrs. Jerome Mathews and Bert Mathews on Black River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wincentsen and Miss Margie Wincentsen of Wittenberg, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lye of Chili.

A prenuptial shower was given at the Little Club on May 20, and a wedding dance was given at the Silver Dome, near Neillsville.

The Loyal Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them a long and happy journey through life.
