Bannach, Lillian (10 JUNE 1948)

A local couple was united in marriage on Thursday, June 10, when Miss Lillian Bannach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Bannach, and Francis J. Shefchik, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shefchik, repeated their vows before the Rev. Fr. Aloys Zinthefer in St. Anthony’s Catholic church.

The bridal party included: Miss Dolores Cowles, a niece of the bride, maid of honor; Miss Evelyn Shefchik, the groom’s sister, bridesmaid; Mary Beth Cowles, another niece, flower girl; Leo Shefchik, the groom’s brother, best man, and Albert Degenhardt, groomsman. Lawrence Fulwiler and John Gerdes were ushers.

The bride’s white ninon gown buttoned down the back. Her fingertip veil was draped over a beaded Juliet cap. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and white carnations.

The maid of honor wore a yellow faille gown, with matching gloves and bonnet. She carried a bouquet of yellow, white and rose carnations. The bridesmaid was dressed similarly in blue. A floor length dress of white was worn by the flower girl, and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations.

Breakfast was served to the wedding party at the home of the bride’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cowles, and a reception was held there in the afternoon.

Dinner and supper were served at St. Anthony’s auditorium. That evening a dance was held at the Silver Dome, near Neillsville.

Following their wedding trip thru several Midwest states, they are now making their home in the Nick Beaver apartments.

The groom, a graduate of the Loyal high school with the class of 1941, is employed as a bookkeeper at the Loyal Canning Co.

The bride was graduated from the Loyal high school and from St. Joseph’s school of nursing in Marshfield. She served in the army nurse corps for 5 ½ years, spending that time in Washington, California, and Arizona. She was separated from service at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., on June 4, 1947, and has been employed at St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield up to the time of her marriage.

Out-of-town guests attending the wedding were Mrs. C. F. Becker and daughters, Carol Ann and Barbara, of Harvey, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. George Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sanders, John Bannach Jr. and Bob Markwardt of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. George Bannach, route four, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. William Bauer and Mr. and Mrs. Woody Bergner of Colby, and Joseph Worth of Stevens Point.
