Schuh, Helen L. (18 SEP 1915 - 25 JUN 2010)

 

COLBY -- Helen L. Schuh, 94, of Colby died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Colonial Nursing Home in Colby. Private burial services will be held at a later date.

Helen L. Steffen was born Sept. 18, 1915, in the town of Beaver to Lena (nee Hahn) and Emil Steffen. She graduated from Spencer High School. She furthered her education and became a licensed practical nurse and worked in the Rochester, Minn., and Marshfield areas. She married Herman Griesbach in 1947. He died in 1952. In 1964, she married Henry Schuh, and they farmed in the Green Grove township until the time of his death.

Helen enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She always had time to pick up the phone to call a relative or friend.

Survivors include her son, Allen Griesbach of Colby; two sisters, Iris Furman of Loyal and Caroline Boettcher of Stratford; a stepdaughter Mary Negrete of Waukesha; and a stepson, Robert Schuh of Curtiss. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Tammy Griesbach of Colby, Jeff Griesbach of Colby, Tiara Tilch of Colby, Colton and Autumn Werner of Medford and Cassius Griesbach of Colby; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry Schuh; two brothers, Harry Steffen and Emil E. Steffen; four sisters, Irene Wittlinger, Rose Dumler, Alaire Hallowell and Eulalia Steffen; and one granddaughter, Tina Werner.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin of Altoona is assisting the family with the arrangements.
