Hutchins, Claude R. (6 NOV 1883 - 15 JAN 1956)

Claude R. Hutchins, a resident of the city of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) for 42 years, passed away Sunday night, Jan. 15, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.  He had been in poor health for the past several months.

Funeral services were held at two o’clock yesterday afternoon, Jan. 18, from Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Claybaugh officiating.  Masonic services were held at Riverside Cemetery.  Tuesday evening the Owen Order of the Eastern Star Lodge held special services at the Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 6, 1883, at Necedah in Juneau County, he received his early education in the Necedah school system.  On June 4, 1906, he and Catherine T. O’Malley were united in marriage in a ceremony performed at Ingram, in Rusk Co.  Two years later the couple moved to Owen where they lived continuously, with the exception of a six years period from 1921 - 27, when they resided at Rockham, S.D.

For many years Claude Hutchins served as a plant employee and alter night watchman at the Master Package Corp., up until the time of his retirement several years ago.

He held the distinction of being a charter member and First Worthy Patron of Owen Chapter 724, Order of the Eastern Star Lodge, and was also a member of the Owen Masonic Lodge.

Surviving him are his wife, Catherine, and a daughter, Miss Arlie Hutchins, both of Owen; a sister, Mrs. Arlie Bradley of Colorado; and a brother, Oscar of Mattoon.
