Neillsville, Wisconsin (July - 1903)
Mrs. N. H. Withee of La Crosse passed through the city Monday on her way to La Crosse from her farm at Longwood. Her son Will went whizzing through on a big auto not long ago.
I. Cardarelli had a visit last week from a cousin from Madison and his daughter, and Annie Cardarelli accompanied them home Monday, taking a pet lamb along as a present for a friend.
Andrew Hokenson came down Friday to visit home and celebrate the fourth. He is foreman in charge of the Rib Lake Lumber Co.’s camp No. 4, and has about 50 men in his camp. He returned to Rib Lake Tuesday.
Mrs. Emma Robinson and Mrs. Warren Southard started on a journey to Maine Friday. They will visit the homes of their childhood, and relatives, and old-time companions. The ladies were born in adjoining villages.
Lute Marsh and Jeff Schuster left Tuesday for the west. They took the U. P. route to Denver, and go thence to San Jose, Cal., and take a considerable swing around through the far west, to see the country and their friends. The outing will last several weeks.
Will Leason and family are home from an extensive and interesting trip to and through the Pacific Coast country. They had a grand time, and Will caught some great fish. On the steamship trip from San Francisco to Portland they saw a large school of whales, spouting for all they were worth, and one monster came up so near the ship that they saw barnacles on the side of his tail. They return thoroughly satisfied that this is the ideal place for them, and here is where they will remain.
