Wirtala, Diane M. (12 AUG 1967)
Miss Diane Marie Wirtala, daughter of Mrs. Vendla Wirtala, route 1, Withee (Clark County, Wis.) was given in marriage by her brother, William Wirtala, to Dennis Roger Wendt, route 1, Owen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wendt, Owen, on Saturday, Aug. 12, 1967, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood.
The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiated at the 1:30 p.m. nuptial ceremony for which Mrs. Don Warner was the organist and Miss Sharon Heideman the soloist. Pastor Myhrwold also sang a solo.
White satin peau and lace were used to fashion the bridal gown, which was highlighted with a train. The bridal gown was designed and fashioned by the bride. He elbow length veil fell from a crown of pearls and sequins. She held a bouquet of white elegance carnations and yellow roses.
Miss Carole Wirtala, Eau Claire, was the maid of honor. Mrs. Doug Missling, Owen, Miss Nancy Stewart, Withee, and Miss Ginger Will, Eau Claire, were bridesmaids. Their aqua blue floor length sheaths were made of lace and georgette over taffeta. Each carried two long stemmed yellow roses secured with matching taffeta bows.
Melvin Niemi, Owen, served as best man; Dough Missling of Owen, Edgar Wirtala of la Crosse and Dave Friske, greenwood, were groomsmen; and Myron Wirtala and Duane Olson ushered.
The wedding reception, attended by 300 guests, was held in the church parlors and the wedding dance at Neillsville’s American Legion Hall. After a honeymoon spent in Northern Wisconsin and Canada, the couple will live in Owen.
The new Mrs. Wendt, a 1964 graduate of Owen-Withee High School, is scheduled to graduate from Wis. State University, Eau Claire, in January 1968. She is affiliated with Kappa Delta Pi Fraternity.
Mr. Wendt, a 1963 graduate of Greenwood High School, attended the Farm Short Course at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and is employed on his father’s farm located between Withee and Greenwood.
