Funeral Coach and Ambulance (Lowe’s - May 1928)
Last week G. H. Lowe went to Freeport, Illinois and drove home a modern funeral coach and ambulance. It is built by the Henney Company of Freeport and is a very handsome vehicle.
Besides the rear door, there are large doors on each side, when used as an ambulance these side doors permit the couch for the patient to be swung around half way outside to that the patient may be easily laid upon it. The couch can then be rolled back into place and on each side is a convenient and comfortable seat for the doctor, nurse and friends. A detachable inside window carries a blue cross sign when used as an ambulance. This is removed when used as a funeral coach.
In appearance it differs greatly from the old type hearse, being merely a large handsome limousine. It is driven by an eight cylinder continental motor.
