Marg, Jean Ann (7 September 1934 - 8 July 2010)
Jean Marg, 75, of Neillsville died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
Jean Ann Marg was born Sept. 7, 1934, in West Salem, the daughter of Herb and Elvira (Bahnub) Schmidt. She attended Melrose High School and graduated in 1952. She was united in marriage to Donald Marg Sept. 18, 1954, in Melrose. They move to Neillsville and Jean worked for 20 plus years as a dental assistant for Dr. Carroll Schield. After Dr. Schield retired, Jean held various other jobs in the area until she retired.
Jean was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. She was a member of the church choir and the ladies aid. For many years she was involved with the Saddle Tramps Horse Club. She was a personal secretary of the Clark County Fair. Jean also helped with her family’s construction business and summer stagecoach rides in Sandusky, OH, in 1967 and 1968.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; two children, Cindy (Larry) Strangfeld of Neillsville and Jeff "Curly" Marg of Custer, SD; five grandchildren, Scott (Corinne) Strangfeld of Colfax, John (Leslie) Strangfeld of DeForest, Marc Strangfeld of Eleva, Matt and Jeff Marg, both of Eau Claire; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Elizabeth) Schmidt of Melrose and Harlan Schmidt of Ettrick; sisters, Marlene (Richard) Dopp of Canby, OR, and Connie Schmidt of Seattle, WA; in-laws, Irvin (Glenna) Marg of Neillsville, Virginia Marg of Neillsville and Caroline (Roger) Helm of Granton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Elvira Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Beth Schmidt and Lois Marg; and brother-in-law, Melvin Marg.
As per Jean’s request, a memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Neillsville; with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pastor Timothy Biebert officiated. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. A caring and sharing gathering for Jean and Don’s friends was held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the new American Legion Hall in Neillsville.
Honorary Casketbearers were her grandsons.
