Labor Day Picnic (Masonic - 3 September 1928)
The annual Masonic picnic is an event at which the Masonic brethren and their wives from Clark and Jackson counties gather at Hatfield and fraternize and renew old acquaintances. The picnic last Monday was held under fine weather conditions and as a result there was a large gathering of Masons from Neillsville, Granton, Chili, Humbird, Merrillan, Black River Falls, Alma Center and other nearby lodges. The afternoon was spent in various ways, the center of attraction being a kitten ball tournament at which Humbird defeated Neillsville and Black River Falls won from Merrillan and Humbird. The evening was spent in dancing in the big pavilion.
