Erikson, David L. (17 JUN 1947 - 24 JUL 2010)
David L. Erikson, 63, of Spencer entered eternal life Saturday, July 24, 2010, in the Palliative Care Unit of Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital with his family at his side.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. Carla Schwantes will serve as organist, with David's grandchildren Tyler and Kelsie Holtzheimer performing a special musical selection. Burial will be in the North Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Erikson, Darrell Erikson, Brian Erikson, Scott Erdman, Woody Schmutzler and Don Schoelzel.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Spencer, and one hour prior to service time at the church Wednesday.
Mr. Erikson was born June 17, 1947, in Marshfield the son of Bror and Ella (Schmidt) Erikson. He was a graduate of Colby High School and continued his education at Mid-State Technical Institute.
On April 15, 1967, in Hartford, Dave was united in marriage to the former Mary Jane Frane.
Mr. Erikson was employed as a Millwright at Marshfield Door until June 2009, when because of health issues, he was no longer able to work.
Dave's faith and family were central in his life. He especially cherished the time he could spend with his grandchildren.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Dave was an avid Packer fan and golf was his passion.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary Jane Erikson, Spencer; daughters Waunda (David) Holtzheimer, Manitowoc and Brenda (Greg) Potts, Freedom and grandchildren Tyler (Dana) Holtzheimer, Kelsie Holtzheimer and Rachel Potts. His brothers, Duane (Anita) Erikson, Genoa City, Jerry (Nancy) Erikson, Richmond, Ill., and Ken (Gerri) Erikson, Withee, and sisters Shirley (Galen) Erdman, Curtiss and Mary Ann (Jim) Foerster, Elgin, Ill., further survive Dave.
A sister, Jan Kalson and brothers Donnie and Allen preceded Dave in death.
Dave's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the many acts of kindness they have received during his illness. You will never know how much of a blessing you have been to our family.
