Kelsh, Carroll "Bud" (1923 - 15 July 2010)

 

Carroll "Bud" Kelsh, 87, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at MeritCare Palliative Care, Fargo.

 

Bud was born near Alma Center in 1923, the son of Ervin and Dora (Hanusa) Kelsh.

 

Bud was in combat at the Battle of the Bulge and wounded crossing the Remagon Bridge on the Rhine River, receiving a Purple Heart.

 

In 1948, he married Joyce Noreen Hardwick.  He began working for Northwest Bell in Grand Forks, ND; and retired as an engineering manager with Northwest Bell in 1983 after 36 years of service.

 

Bud was a member of Shiloh Masonic Lodge #1, Daylight Lodge #135, Fargo Scottish Rite where he was honored to be a 33rd degree mason.  Bud was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo, NC, for 55 years.  He was a weekly volunteer and gardener there for over 25 years.  Bud loved to hunt, fish, golf, and do woodworking and was always willing to help others with their projects.

 

Bud is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce, of Fargo; son Bruce and his wife, Wendy, of Hong Kong and their sons, Aaron and Alex; son Nick and his wife, Anne, of Philadelphia and their three sons, Chaz, Alexander and Teddy; son Eric of Albuquerque, NM, and his wife Teresa, and their daughter, Madison; son Joel of Minneapolis, MN; daughter Jill Mattson and her husband Paul of Crosby, MN, and their son, Jim, and daughter, Elizabeth; his sister, Ruth Harden Peplau of Eau Claire; several in-laws and nieces and nephews.

 

Bud was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie and Betty.

 

A Memorial service will be held Friday, July 23, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.  Visitation will be Thursday, July 22, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  A Masonic Service will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 7 p .m. at Hanson-Runsvold.
