Gassen, Carl, Jr. (Accident - 23 March 1929)
Carl Gassen Jr., aged 11, had a narrow escape from serious injury Saturday afternoon while roller skating along the sidewalk opposite the A & P Store. At the corner he caught the lamp post to stop himself, as he saw an approaching truck. His arm slipped from the post and he fell on the brick pavement, splitting open the skin on all the fingers of one hand. The truck stopped just in time to avoid running over his leg which was held down by his clothing under the wheel. The driver of the truck, which is the Blodgett Truck from Marshfield, took the boy at once to a doctor to have his hand dressed and Carl is little the worse for the accident.
About a year ago Carl had a more serious adventure, breaking a leg by falling off High Rock below Ross Eddy.
