Turkey Raising (1929)
A number of local men, with the aid and assistance of County Agent Knipfel, are embarking in the turkey raising business and have purchased 600 turkey chicks. Part of the shipment has been received and the chicks taken out to the brooder houses. The chicks will be raised and cared for by George West at his farm on Pleasant Ridge east of Neillsville. Brooder houses have already been built on the West farm and are all ready to accommodate the Thanksgiving dinners. Young turkeys are difficult to rear, but the local men figurer that by giving them ideal conditions and a small range that they will be able to avoid the diseases which take off so many turkeys when they are young.
