Julia Rasmussen, 92, Owen, formerly of Greenwood, died on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 1, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, rural Greenwood. Rev. James Mohr officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Cheryl Kitzhaber, Dawn Suda, Shane Rasmussen, John Denk, Jamie Denk and Kathy Olivo.
Julia Krze was born on April 26, 1918, in North Chicago, Ill., to Cyril and Agnes (nee Mazovec) Krze. She was raised and attended school in Chicago until the age of 10. Her family then moved to Greenwood, where she completed her education. After her education, she worked as a housekeeper and at the dry cleaners in Neillsville. She married Walter Rasmussen on Oct. 5. 1935, in Waukegan, Ill. She and her husband owned and operated Elmdale Cheese Factory, where she ran the bar and store attached to the factory. They sold the factory in 1977. She then went to work at the Clark County Health Care Center, in Owen, from 1978 until her retirement in 1984. After retiring, she was an avid walker and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, and had many interests, including gardening, canning, making afghans, reading Alfred Hitchcock novels, and watching "The Price is Right," "Wheel of Fortune," and "Murder She Wrote." She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Shirley (Jack) Denk, Waukesha, Roy (Mary) Rasmussen, Greenwood, Ethyl Solmonson, Thorton, Colo, Gary (Tina) Rasmussen, Eau Claire, and Pat (Myron) Netterlund, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
