Heck, Floyd  (17 MAR 1918-05 JULY 2010)

 

Floyd Heck, 92, Greenwood, died on Monday, July 5, 2010, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice at Neillsville Care and Rehab. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, at the Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville, on Friday, July 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Zion American Lutheran Church, Pine Valley. Pallbearers are grandchildren and great-grandchildren and honorary pallbearers are Ben Heck and Chuck Johnson. The Rev. Keith Luneberg and Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.

 

Floyd E. Heck was born on March 17, 1918, in the town of York, to Eli J. and Laura (nee Neiderwerfer) Heck. He received his education at Oriole Grade School, town of York and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1938. As a student in high school, he worked at the A & P Store in Neillsville. He married Harriet M. Feirn on Sept. 25, 1941, in Decorah, Iowa. He farmed in the town of Eaton until the time of his death and also drove truck for 20 years hauling grain and cattle. He served for seven years as a member of the Mound School Board and was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church, Pine Valley.

 

Survivors include children Tracy (Kay) Heck, Sheldon (Marie) Heck, Harvey (Linda) Heck, all of Greenwood and son-in-law Aaron Bloch, Neillsville, 1 sister-in-law, Anita Heck, Marshfield, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

Preceding him in death was his wife, Harriet,  1 daughter, Judith Bloch and 1 great-grandson, Dylan Bloch.
