A meeting was held at the Guild Hall at Owen, Friday night, at which the Clark County Chapter of the Red Cross was re-organized and a program set up for active work in the future. Headquarters of the Chapter had been at Neillsville since it was organized some twelve years ago and the officers who had carried on all this time felt that they would like to be relieved and let others take up the work, and it was generally felt that a change of headquarters to the north end of the county for a time would stimulate activity.
Miss Mary L. Jones, Red Cross Representative for Wisconsin, who presided at the meeting at Owen, Friday night also expressed her belief that this change might be well for the organization. Miss Jones went over the activities of the Red Cross work generally and particularly what had been done in Wisconsin, showing that there is always great need of keeping the County Red Cross Chapter and its branches in working order, as there are always minor disasters needing relief, local families and individuals needing help and the ever present possibility of great major disasters.
When the meeting took up the business program, it was voted to establish the Chapter Headquarters at Owen. The following officers were elected: E. W. Kidd, Owen, Chairman; Mrs. W. A. Campman; Neillsville Vice Chairman, J. S. Hughes, Owen Secretary-Treasurer. These officers together with the Disaster Reporting Committee and the chairman of the other committees were voted to constitute the board of directors.
