Clark County Fair (Pickpocket - August 1929)
A pickpocket who operated the last day of the Clark County Fair is believed to have stolen nearly $200 from visitors on the grounds. Henry Hanson of Whitehall reported that while he was standing in the grandstand during the playing of the "Star Spangled Banner" somebody reached into his hip pocket and took his wallet containing $55. George Smith of Withee reported the theft of $90. A few others stated they had lost money. A young woman was suspected of being the thief but it was impossible to catch her in the act, although she was watched.
