Cy decided in favor of baseball, and from 1946 to 1951 concentrated on it, until "I saw the handwriting on the wall," he said.

In 1951, Cy Buker returned to his native city of Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wis., to coach in the school from which he had been graduated 15 years before.  His record in Greenwood in football was several conference championships with undefeated or untied records.  His overall record was 50 some wins with nine losses.  In basketball he coached his teams to 83 wins and 26 losses.

In 1963, Cy Buker coached in Whitehall one year and had some successful records in basketball and football.  Two years ago, Cy moved over to Loyal in Clark County where he has done a fine building job in football and baseball and as athletic director.

As a coach, Cy Buker goes into every game with a will to win.  His coaching records have been excellent and he is still considered one of the best and most successful coaches in Wisconsin.  "He gets the most out of every athlete," said one of his assistant coaches.  "He plays each man at his best, if a star player needs a rest, he replaces him.  He usually uses most of his bench in addition to the Varsity.  He will accept nothing less than the best from each player."
