Lillian "Jeanne" Schmidt, 80, Colby, entered eternal life Monday July 19, 2010. She died in the Palliative Care Unit of St Joseph’s Hospital with her family by her side.

Jeanne was born July 10, 1930 in Stratford, a daughter of William and Lydia (Alexander) Schnabel.

Jeanne graduated from Stratford High School in 1948. She then worked at the Abby Bus Stop as a waitress; it was while working there she met the love of her life, Ronald. Jeanne then worked for a time at Danielson Cleaners.

The couple married on April 16, 1955 at the First United Church of Christ. They then purchased a dairy farm in the town of Hull. Ronald and Jeanne owned and operated the farm until their son, Daniel, took it over in 2005.

Family, faith and farming were the passions in Jeanne’s life. Other interests included, flower and vegetable gardening and reading. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling.

Jeanne was an active member of the First United Church of Christ and the Women’s Guild.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Ronald A. Schmidt, Colby; children, Connie (Kenneth) VenRooy, Colby, David Schmidt, Colby, Daniel (Bethanie) Schmidt, Colby, and Ronald E.
