Neuenfeldt, Mabel #2 (7 SEP 1893 - 6 APR 1966)
Greenwood and community were shocked Wednesday when it was learned that Mrs. William Neuenfeldt, 72, had passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack at 8 p.m. This was the third heart attack victim in the Neuenfeldt family in 5 years.
Mother Neuenfeldt suffered the fatal attack at the Dairy Bar, and pronounced dead by Dr. Olson shortly after.
Services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Hill Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Aloysius Baumann, pastor, officiated, and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
A general Rosary was held Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. and that was followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary.
The former Mabel O’Connell was born Sept. 7, 1893, at Beaver Dam. Her marriage to William F. Neuenfeldt, who preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1961, took place Jan. 19, 1913.
After their marriage, the lived in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) until 1946, when they came to Greenwood. Mr. Neuenfeldt had owned and operated the Greenwood Gleaner until 1945, when his son, Albert, took over the business.
Mrs. Neuenfeldt was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its St. Ann’s Society; the American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America, and the Birthday Club.
Survivors are three sons, Charles, Spencer; Albert, Greenwood; and James, St. Paul; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, William Jr., in June 1962, a daughter in infancy, and a sister, Miss Irene O’Connell on March 20, 1962.
