Wildish, John Booth#2 (28 October 1942 - 2010) With Flag
John B. Wildish, 67, of Greenwood passed away unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010.
John Booth Wildish was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Eau Claire, the son of Everett W. and Myrtella Belle (Booth) Wildish. John was born enroute to Eau Claire, since the hospital in Neillsville was closed due to the war. He was raised and received his education in Neillsville. Then he enlisted into the U. S. Air Force. His father passed away when John was five years old, and after his mother’s death in 1962, John lived with the Wendt and Kluckhohn families in Neillsville. John was united in marriage to Diane Hribar Nov. 30, 1963, at the United Methodist Church in Neillsville. He worked for Justin Kopf in Marshfield as a plasterer and at Northern Auto in Neillsville as a salesman. They moved to Greenwood in 1967, where he worked at Greenwood Homes until its closing, then with his brother-in-law, Bob Marty, at Bob’s Masonry, and finally went to work at Landini Realty until retiring in 1990. After his retirement, John enjoyed raising Angus and Hereford beef and built a cabin on Lake Arbutus.
He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post #238, had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his wife, Diane, being with his children and grandchildren, fishing, hunting, especially coon and bear when he was younger, trapping and snowmobiling. John loved to keep up on current events and was an avid reader of local and American history.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, Diane, of Greenwood; his son, James (Kristilyn) Wildish of Wisconsin Rapids; his daughter, Cindy (Shane) Rasmussen of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Lane, Logan and Leah Wildish and Rio and Mesa Belle Rasmussen; one sister, Marilyn (Bob) Marty of Neillsville; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law and one daughter, Tina Marie in infancy.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Greenwood. Rev. Mike Herdt officiated and burial followed in the Greenwood City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bob Marty, Jack Kluckhohn, Ron Koepke, Delmain Toburen, Ron Hribar and Charlie Zellmer. Honorary pallbearers were John Freudigmann, Fred Hribar, Bob Hribar, JR Hribar and Mel Wendt.
Visitation was held at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
